Sophie Camus
Based in Washington, DC, USA
My name is Sophie Camus, and I am a writer, director, and actor with a BFA in Film and New Media Production from Marymount Manhattan College (2024). My greatest creative strength has always been perspective. I'm drawn to the details beneath the surface and the questions others don't think to ask. I'm equally at home across all stages of production, from the earliest pages of a script through the final cut, and I bring the same level of care and intention to every part of the process. Small but mighty at 5'0", no task is ever too small for me, and no challenge is too big.
My approach to leadership is rooted in mindfulness and respect. I strongly believe the best creative work happens when every person in the room feels valued, heard, and free to play — and that's the environment I'm committed to building on every set.
My work is also deeply informed by the things I care about most: the visibility and power of women in film and media, and the stories of people living with chronic illness and disability, a community I am proud to be a part of. My own experience with chronic illness has sharpened my empathy, deepened my storytelling, and made me a more intentional collaborator. I'm actively seeking my next project and excited for more hands-on opportunities to create meaningful work.
